Zur Rose - San Michele Appiano - Italy
This is my first post so..be high minded!
The restaurant is called Zur Rose (web site), located in the really beautiful town called San Michele Appiano in Trentino Alto Adige - South Tyrol, in the north east of Italy.
This is a one star restaurant for the great Michelin Guide.
The restaurant is disegned with a modern outfit in a typical south tyrolean town that needs to be visited before or after the restaurant! So, please, take 30 minutes to see the town & feel the good athmosphere of this city!

About the restaurant, obviously the menu changes depending on seasonability & products availability but it's really interesting.
We eat mashrooms, not general mushrooms but what here in italy is called: "Porcini" that are one of the best mushrooms available here in italy, after what we called "Ovuli".
What about the foods..We start with a local sparkling wine - Arunda Blanc de Blancs , Josef Reiterer -& Chef Herbert offers us a welcome appetizer based on home made bread, salted butter managed with souer cream (this was really wonderful), breadsticks, one made with red pepper & the black one with charcoal & two typical South Tyrol foods: one is called "Canederlo" & the other one is called "Speck".
Canederlo (dumplings made with leftover bread) is staffed with an other typical mushrooms called "Finferlo" (Chanterelle). This Canederlo was really interesting also for Chanterelle but in particular because it was really soft! Sometimes Canederlo has a great testing but can result a little bit heavy! Speck is the local sausage (deboned, salted and smoked ham) served with Chanterelle too! Great Starting, great South Tyrolean cuisine. Then we start our lunch with "Carpaccio Marinato" - marinated thinly sliced raw meat - with row "Porcini"...Oh My God! Wonderful tasting! The first course was: Porcini mushrooms soup, with raw mushrooms, potatos & ravioli (typical Italian pasta) & for me the revisiting of Canederlo with cheese. This is really particular because it’s strange to tase a canederlo that seems more to a salty cake! I’m honest, this is not so good because the egg flavor was so strong! After the first course we decided to taste one dessert & in particular one based on ice cappuccino & dark chocolate! This is a great choice! In general the restaurant is very nice, chef is good, all the courses are interesting & revisit the South Tyrol typical foods. Service is ok & the wine list is so wide. We choose Lagrein Taber (Kellerei Bozen), then for desserts: Comtess (Sanct Valentin – San Michele Appiano) & Terminum (Tramin).
