Oste Scuro/ Finsterwirt – Bressanone - Italy

The municipal city of Bressanone is, in the true sense of the word, located in the heart of South Tyrol and is immersed in a wide valley basin. Beside the city it also comprises the villages nestling on the slopes of Monte Ponente as well as S. Andrea on the slopes of the Plose and the localities of Albes, Elvas, Millan, Eores and Sarnes. The mild climate of the Valle Isarco valley makes vineyards and fruit orchards flourish in this area. In fact, Bressanone fascinates twice: on the one hand the city has got a varied cultural programme to offer, on the other hand the surrounding villages as well as the local mountain of the Plose make you escape the city life and take you to another world, the world of nature, ideal for taking a break and enjoying relaxation. A sightseeing tour is an absolute must-do: visit the Dome of Bressanone, walk along the famous via crucis and have a coffee on the square at the dome. Also should you make a visit to the Hofburg with diocesan museum, the pharmacy museum and to conclude the day, make a shopping tour in the arcades of Bressanone, adorned with picturesque and colourful facades.

In this amazing town you can also have a chance to eat in one of my favourite restaurant called “Oste Scuro – Finsterwirt” that is located in the downtown near the Dome. Visitng Oste Scuro, you can enjoy delicious meal, very interesting wines (local wine but not only) and the unique ambience in the antique wood-panelled Stube rooms or the cosy inner courtyard terrace. I visited this restaurant 4 times in 6 months and I was always satisfied because I found a creatively refined traditional seasonal dishes thanks to the fresh and regional products, which are purchased directly from farmers with the Organic or Slow Food seal of quality whenever possible.I ate different kind of foods, from roasted deer to "Finferlo" (Chanterelle) with vegetables and an unmissable dessert that is a small samples of all that…you cannot loose this opportunity to taste this dessert! The owner of this restaurant also has one of the best – probably the best one – hotel in the city, called Goldener Adler that can offer an incredible breakfast..Furthermore, you also can try Vitis that is a Wine Bar & Wine Restaurant in Brixen. Here you can find all the websites about these three amazing places in Brixen that represent the heart of the local cuisine.
